"The Crew"
Dr. Dave is a native of Kansas having grown up on a ranch south of Ashland. He graduated from high school in Smith Center (before the Redmen had a good football team). Upon graduation Dave attended Kansas State where he received a degree in agriculture in addition to his DVM. After receiving his DVM, Dave and his wife, Starla, moved to Hastings, NE where he worked in a 4 veterinarian mixed animal practice for ten years. When he left this practice he started his own business, South Central Herd Health Services, which emphasized production medicine for cow/calf and feedyard clients in south central Nebraska and north central Kansas. This practice, which was located in Red Cloud, NE, was sold in 2010 and Dave has been providing relief veterinary services to OVS, Ashland Veterinary Center, and Platte Valley Veterinary Hospital since that time.
Dave completed the Beef Cattle Production Management Series at the Great Plains Veterinary Educational Center as part of his continuing education where he strives to stay on the “cutting edge” of new information in the beef cattle industry. He has served as a director for the Academy of Veterinary Consultants as well as serving as president. He is currently serving on the board of directors for the American Association of Bovine Practitioners. Dave received the AABP/Merial “Excellence in Preventive Medicine for Beef Cattle” award in 2009.
Dave’s passion for veterinary medicine and the beef cattle industry continues to center around production medicine and the efficient conversion of cellulose to high quality red meat protein to feed a growing world population.
Dr. Jaime Hammerich joined Oakley Veterinary Services in July 2011. Originally from Wyoming, she moved frequently growing up with her father's job giving her the opportunity to live in California, Texas, England and Scotland. She attended the University of California Davis for undergraduate studies with an emphasis in animal science and biology.

She is a 2010 graduate of Texas A&M University College of Veterinary Medicine. Following graduation from veterinary school she completed a one year internship at Interstate Equine in Goldsby, Oklahoma. She is excited to now live in Kansas with her husband, Tim, and their English setter, Bella.
